Broadcaster Paul Holmes was admitted to hospital in Auckland at the weekend after the return of results for routine medical tests done during the week.
TVNZ is expected to release a statement today about his condition, but colleagues last night stressed that the medical results were not related to
cancer.
Holmes, 53, was diagnosed with prostate cancer towards the end of 1999 and began radiotherapy in January 2000.
Three months later, Holmes said he was confident the cancer had been beaten and returned to work.
Holmes show executive producer Philippa Keane said last night that Holmes entered a hospital in Auckland at the weekend.
"He had some tests done and he's in hospital for assessment and awaiting the outcome."
She expected that Holmes - TVNZ's highest-paid presenter - would return to his television show this week.
