Hokitika man dies in campervan accident

A Hokitika man has died after being hit by a campervan.

Police have named the man as Barry John MacIntyre.

Constable Jon Armstrong said the accident happened at Hari Hari at 6.10pm yesterday.

He said emergency staff and a local doctor tried to save the 39 year-old at the scene but he later died of his head injuries in Greymouth Hospital.

Mr Armstrong said police "enquiries are continuing" and the death has been referred to the coroner.
