Save The hiker who died after falling 100m while tramping on the Milford Track has been named as George Clyde Little.
Mr Little, 65, was believed to be tramping with a Rotary group staying at Department of Conservation huts in Fiordland National Park.
The accident happened near the highest point on
the Milford Track at about 11.30am on Friday.
Police said the accident happened on a steep section of the track but the cause of the man's fall, near Mackinnon Pass, was not yet established.
