Highway closed after cyclist and car collide near New Plymouth

A cyclist and car have crashed on the main highway north of New Plymouth this morning.

A section of State Highway 3 has been closed and emergency services are tending to the injured after the collision around 9.20am near an intersection leading to the city's airport.

Traffic is being diverted around the crash scene.

A police spokeswoman said it was unclear how many had been injured and the extent of injuries.
