Help quake kids keep warm

Donations of food, time and money flow into Christchurch's Salvation Army centres, but winter means there is a new need.

The city's children need merino vests, beanies and hot water bottles, says earthquake recovery manager Bruce Coffey.

"We've had reports that students are coming to school cold. And hot water bottles are a cheap, easy way to keep warm," he said.

Phillipstown School principal Tony Simpson said there was a huge need.

Items could be dropped into Salvation Army centres at 202-204 Cuba Street, Wellington; 619A Mt Albert Rd, Royal Oak, Auckland; or 12 Vialou St, Hamilton.
