Helicopter sent to rescue man injured by tractor at Snells Beach boat ramp

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was sent to rescue a who suffered a leg injury.

A man who suffered serious injuries at a Snells Beach boat ramp has been flown to Auckland City Hospital.

The Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter was deployed to assist the man who was hurt while retrieving a boat.

Attending co-pilot Aaron Knight said the man was injured as he tried to climb on a tractor.

"(He) went to jump on a tractor and the tractor was driven forward.

"He was caught by rear wheel of the tractor and run over," Knight said.

The man - in his 60's - received multiple injuries but not on his leg as previously stated.

St John has tweeted saying the man injured at Snells Beach was in a traffic incident.
