Hearing delayed for teens accused of attacking officer

The two Feilding teenagers who allegedly bashed a police officer near Taihape have had their next court appearance delayed a month.

Eighteen-year-old Japhet Simiona and a 14-year-old are charged with the attempted murder of Senior Constable Bruce Mellor in early December.

They were due to reappear in court tomorrow, but a provisional date of February 17 has been re-scheduled for their next appearance.

Simiona remains in custody, and the 14-year-old is in the care of Child, Youth and Family.

The 14-year-old's lawyer is expected to make an application for bail during the next appearance.
