Headley kidnap trial may move

Lawyers for three people accused of kidnap last year do not want the case dealt with in Hamilton city.

Dick Halton Headley, 69, his daughter, Kay Halton Skelton, 36, and her friend Nikala Janice Taylor, 36, are due to stand trial next year for kidnapping a child. At a callover hearing in the High Court at Hamilton yesterday, defence lawyers for the trio indicated that they would seek a change of venue for the trial and apply for a stay of proceedings.

The case will be called again on February 8. Details of the alleged victim have been suppressed by the court.
