Although Quinn had not played football for the school this year, he had friends in its third 11 team.
Quinn's parents, Stephen and Liz Wise, issued a statement last night with his older brother Garrick and Garrick's partner Tiffany thanking family, friends and the community "for the aroha and overwhelming support that they have received."
"They thank everyone for their prayers, kind thoughts and their many acts of kindness," a family spokeswoman said.
"All this has given us strength at this difficult time."
A police spokeswoman said police were satisfied there were no suspicious circumstances around Quinn's death.
