One lucky Hawke’s Bay Lotto player scooped up a sweet $19,708 in Wednesday night's live Lotto draw.
It was close but not near enough for a Hastings My Lotto customer which was one of 29 ticket-holders who each won a Lotto second division prize of $17,433, as the $30 million Powerball jackpot still went begging.
There were no winners of the jackpot, which soars to $33 millionfor the next draw on Wednesday, three winners of the Powerball second division pay-out of $29,595 each, and just one winner of the Lotto first division prize of $1 million.
The six Lotto numbers drawn were 7, 10, 28, 33, 37 and 39, with both the bonus and Powerball being No 4.
Lotto has now gone 12 draws without the Powerball first division prize being struck, the last multi-million dollar pay-out in the twice weekly national punt being $30 million from a Saturday-night draw on April 13, claimed by a Wellington ticket-holder.
Part of a suburban Napier arterial was closed to traffic for more than an hour on Saturday night after a vehicle hit skip bin at the side of the road then hit another vehicle which police say had just been parked at the side of the road. The crash happened in Latham St, near McLean Park, about 7.50pm. Police said there were no reports of injuries.

Armed police warn pair after false gun threat
Napier Police have formally warned two young men whose antics with a BB gun led to an armed police response.
Police responded to a report of a firearm being waved from the window of a vehicle about 11am on Thursday.
“Taking the incident as a real-life threat, armed officers responded and located the vehicle in Ballance Pl a short time later. After setting up cordons and calling for the occupants of a house to come out with their hands up, police found the pair responsible,” a police spokesman said.
“Both admitted their part in the incident and told police they had purchased the $4 BB gun in town and brandished it in public.”
Police gave the two young men advice about firearms responsibility and decided to give a formal warning rather than file any charges.
The spokesman said police will always treat reports involving firearms seriously and advised against taking imitation weapons out in public.

Armed police arrested a 26-year-old man following initial reports of a family harm matter in Flaxmere around 5.50pm on Monday.
The man has been charged with presenting a firearm at a person and was due to appear in Hastings District Court on Tuesday.
Residents reported road blockages when the arrest was taking place.
Peace activist and ecologist to speak
Professor Mazin Qumsiyeh, an ecology scientist and peace activist from Bethlehem University, is visiting Hawke’s Bay this week on a national tour of Aotearoa.
He is speaking this Thursday 23 May at the Taradale Town Hall, Meeanee Rd, Taradale at 7.30pm, followed by a Q and A and refreshments.
