Hawke's Bay man dies in hospital two weeks after 'altercation'

A man who suffered critical injuries during an "altercation" at an address in the Hawke's Bay has died.

The 47-year-old was admitted to hospital with critical injuries two weeks ago, on November 17.

He died this afternoon.

Police said they were investigating the circumstances of how the man received his injuries.

Hawke's Bay area commander Inspector Dave Greig said the man was injured during "an altercation involving a number of people" at a Long Range Rd address in Pourerere.

A 46-year-old man has since been arrested and charged with aggravated robbery.

He is due in court on December 8.

Police didn't believe there was any ongoing risk to the public, but were still seeking a number of people in connection to the incident.
