Hastings police urge public to ignore alarms

Hastings police tonight took the unusual step of urging the public to ignore Civil Defence alarms.

A police spokesman said a power surge in the city had activated many alarms, including Civil Defence.

"Members of the public should not be alarmed and the relevant authorities are working to fix the problem," the spokesman said.
