Harcourts won't be taking anything for granted in Netball Wairarapa's premier one competition.
That's the word from co-coach Sarah Brooking who says the defending champions are not getting carried away with the fact they are yet to taste defeat this season.
"It's early days yet and a lot ofthe other teams are going to improve," Brooking says. "We are happy enough with where we are but we have to keep building, we can't be complacent."
Brooking, who coaches Harcourts with Carlene Karaitiana, says having so many new faces in their line-up is exciting for the club: former St Matthew's players in Pip Lynch and Shannon Sims, Evie Langlands from Wairarapa College, Joan Newbery and Megan Summers, who has moved here from Australia and has the versatility to play at wing defence, wing attack, centre or shooter.
Back from last season are Katie Wyeth, Astee Karaitiana, Danielle Gray, Susielle Blong and Paige Drummond. Carlene Karaitiana and experienced campaigner Geraldine Carroll will fill in if required.
Brooking says Celtic are one of the favourites for the premier one title with most of their players being part of the Wairarapa squad in the Wellington regional super league series.
""You can't take any team for granted, it's all about performing well in every game."
Tomorrow's premier one draw has Harcourts playing Carterton New World Vipers, Eketahuna playing Wairarapa College, Pioneer Blue confronting St Matthew's and Celtic up against Baywide Gladstone.
