Harcourts remain unbeaten in netball

Harcourts kept their unbeaten record intact when they scored a 50-33 win over Makoura College in their Netball Wairarapa premier one match the Colombo Rd courts on Saturday.

In the clash between the competition's two leading teams, the greater experience of Harcourts was always likely to be a decisive factor and while Makoura College battled bravely they found the precision of the Harcourts midcourt play, in particular, hard to handle.

Carterton New World Lynx boosted their chances of making the semifinals with a 45-28 defeat of Baywide Gladstone and the same could be said of Pioneer Blue, who returned to something like their best form with a 58-38 defeat of St Matthew's Collegiate.

Perhaps the most intriguing of all the premier one games was that between Carterton New World Legends and Wairarapa College as they went into the match sharing third place. It was a hard-fought contest, with the Legends edging out the students 35-33. The final round of qualifying games before the semis will be played next weekend.
