Hamilton street in lockdown after reports of gunfire

Hamilton residents have reported hearing gunfire tonight and there is a strong police presence in the suburb of Nawton.

Hamilton Central Police could not comment on the matter to the Herald at 12.15am.

Stuff reports Derby St in Nawton has been cordoned off from the public by police.

A Hamilton local told Stuff they heard three or four gunshots around 10.30pm.
