Hamilton murder accused faces new charges

Two further charges were laid against a 31-year-old Hamilton man when he re-appeared in Lower Hutt District Court today charged with the murder of his wife.

The 35-year-old woman's body was found in the back of a van in the Lower Hutt suburb of Taita on Easter Monday.

Details of the new charges were suppressed by the court. But outside the court, Detective Sergeant Ross Levy told reporters the two additional charges were sexual in nature.

The man's name was also suppressed. He was remanded in custody until his pre-depositions hearing on May 29.
