Hamilton 'attempted murder': Police seek white and silver car

Police are seeking a car in relation to the alleged attempted murder of a teenage boy in Hamilton.

Police are seeking a car in relation to the alleged attempted murder of a teenage boy in Hamilton.

Police have identified a silver and white car they believe was involved in the June 16 shooting of a 14-year-old boy on Norrie St, in the Hamilton suburb of Bader.

The boy received minor injuries.

The car has a distinctive silver driver's side panel, while the rest of the car is white.

The incident was one of three shootings on the same street in the space of a week.

Anyone with any information about the car, particularly on the June 16, has been urged to contact police.

Police are also interested in hearing about sightings of Taupo Mongrel Mob members in Hamilton on the same day.

Detective Sergeant Andrew Saunders this morning said "we are treating this as an attempted murder and are pursuing lines of enquiry to identify those involved in this cowardly act."

"Gangs are often associated with the use of firearms but targeting a 14-year-old in this manner is a new low. The actions of the offenders can only be described as gutless and we encourage anyone with information to please come forward."
