Gun and ammunition spotted in parked car

An illegally parked car was found with a shotgun and more than 200 rounds of live ammunition lying on the seat.

Senior Sergeant Brian Benn said police in Dunedin were called to help remove the car from Clyde Street, outside the Otago University's Commerce Building, on Monday night.

Upon further inspection the ammunition was seen lying loose on a seat and the gun was seen lying on the back seat.

Mr Benn said the owner of the car would be interviewed today.
