Turkey Red Greytown have fallen at the last hurdle in their bid to make the final of the Wairarapa Cricket Association's Bidwill Cup two-day competition.
Beaten outright by an innings and 124 runs by Wairarapa College last weekend, Greytown failed to pick up any bonus points for their efforts
and are now guaranteed to finish no better than third at the end of the qualifying round.
Greytown's failure was good news for Flight Centre Lansdowne who will now meet Red Star in the final regardless of the outcome of their preliminary match which got under way last Saturday and will finish this weekend.
Lansdowne hold a four-run lead with just five second innings wickets in hand with the odds clearly favouring Red Star completing the remarkable record of having won all their qualifying games outright.
