Greytown musical caters for all tastes

The latest Greytown Little Theatre production features a cast of 20 performers and a show packed with singing, hip-hop moves, jazz dancing and jokes.

In August, Greytown Little Theatre will be putting on a "toe-tapping" musical variety show.

Let's make it a night out will feature music ranging from the 1950s to modern pop and will have a cast ranging from 10 to 80 years old.

Director Val Wilton said the show would be packed with singing, hip-hop moves, jazz dancing and jokes.

"Everyone has been saying Greytown needs a musical and it's been some years since we have done one."

The team of just under 20 performers come from Featherston, Greytown, Carterton and Masterton and have been rehearsing for the August show for two months.

"It's local talent, there's 30 to 40 songs and about four or five different performances."

Mrs Wilton had been inspired to put on the show after noticing so many talented young people about.

"There's so much talent out there, it's amazing ... We have about four college-age children with the most beautiful voices."

She said she also wanted to get younger people involved in the theatre so they could carry it on when the older members retired.

The show will run from August 19-29 and is BYO. Tickets are on sale at The Village Art Shop on Main St in Greytown and door sales will be available.
