Greens release party list rankings

The Greens say they are extremely unlikely to go into a formal coalition agreement with a National-led Government after the election.

Co-leader Russel Norman says the Greens would prefer Labour, whose policies are more in line with theirs.

The party is circulating a remit to its members in advance of their June conference.

Dr Norman says it is important party members have a say before a final decision is arrived at.

He says they could work through a memorandum of understanding with National as they have been doing but formal coalition support for the party would be extremely unlikely.

The party has also released its initial list rankings for this year's general election.

Co-Leaders Metiria Turei and Russel Norman take out the top two spots, with sitting MPs Kevin Hague, Catherine Delahunty, Kennedy Graham, and Gareth Hughes, filling positions three to six.

However current MP David Clendon has been ranked at number nine, behind former Environment Canterbury Councillor Eugenie Sage, and the Green Party's Mana by-election candidate Jan Logie.

Party staffer Holly Walker is a swift riser, filling the 10th spot on the list.
