Greenpeace protesters in court on trespass charges

Four Greenpeace protesters who scaled Parliament walls last month have made a brief appearance in court this morning.

Johno Smith, Jess Harrison, Abi Smith, and Verena Maeder appeared before a registrar at the Wellington District Court on trespass charges.

They've been remanded at large, and will appear again in two weeks.

Johno Smith said they were on the roof of Parliament two weeks ago to deliver a message to the Government.

The protesters climbed to near the top of the building, holding signs and banners, two reading, 'This is real climate action', and anther said: "Cut pollution, create jobs? Yeah, nah."

The court appearance comes as Greenpeace remembers the Rainbow Warrior bombing 30 years ago today.
