Green and made in the US

Toyota aims to make its "green" Prius petrol-electric hybrid a little more green by adopting a "making where sold" policy.

A new plant in Mississippi, originally slated for production of the Highlander off-roader, is being switched to Prius manufacture.

Highlander production is being moved to the maker's Indiana plant, which forces the manufacture of the Tundra pick-up truck to be consolidated to another factory.

The Prius will be the second Toyota hybrid to be made in America, after the Camry. The company expects demand for both to increase substantially over the next few years.
