Focus Live: Truck fire causes traffic problems on Auckland's Southern Motorway.
A fire has completely destroyed the cab of a grain feed truck on Auckland's Southern Motorway.
The blaze happened just north of the Drury interchange, with the first 111 call to the fire service coming at 9.12am.
The cab of the MainFeeds truck-and-trailer had been completely ablaze but the driverescaped unharmed, Fire and Emergency NZ northern shift manager Scott Osmond said.
Four fire appliances and a tanker were sent to the fire, Osmond said. He predicted "horrendous" traffic delays, with both lanes northbound blocked as 20 firefighters battled the blaze.
The truck has now been cleared of the motorway lanes and traffic is flowing well.
