Prime Minister John Key will seek advice this afternoon about how the Government should respond to Fiji's decision to deny a group of New Zealand and Australian trade unionists entrance to the country.
New Zealand Council of Trade Unions president Helen Kelly and four other trade union officials were denied
entry and consular assistance at Nadi airport yesterday, and were sent back to Australia.
The delegation had wanted to speak to Fiji employers and unions about alleged anti-union action by the Bainimarama government.
Mr Key told reporters this morning he was yet to have a briefing from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the issue, but would speak to officials this afternoon about whether there would be a formal response from the Government.
Fiji has faced international condemnation since Commodore Frank Bainimarama seized power following a coup in 2006.
