Gisborne surfer dies

A Gisborne man has died in a surfing accident in Western Australia. Ian Francis, 57, was surfing at Coral Bay on Tuesday when he hit his head on a rock.

Other surfers noticed he had not surfaced and brought him to shore but he was unable to be revived, his sister Jude Francis said.

Mr Francis was a keen surfer and had lived in Gisborne all his life.
