Girl injured after falling from truck

An 11-year-old Bay of Plenty girl is in a serious condition after apparently falling from the back of a moving truck this morning.

The girl was taken to Whakatane Hospital after police were called to the incident about 8am, Sergeant Ray Wylie of Whakatane police said.

Initial enquiries indicated the girl had fallen from the back of a moving truck but no further details were available, he said.

Her condition was "causing concern", Mr Wylie said.
