A North Island National MP has demanded the removal from his city of one of the youths accused of the Reporoa home invasion killing, saying that residents have become aware of the youth's presence and fear for their safety.
Two of the four accused of murdering Beverly Bouma on November 30
were freed on bail by the Rotorua Youth Court on Friday, outraging friends and family of Mrs Bouma.
The MP said a city councillor approached him after getting complaints from neighbours of the house where the 17-year-old was staying.
"He's a threat to members of the public and I want him removed and put somewhere secure - back in jail," said the MP. "I've spoken to the police but their hands are tied. They are just trying to keep the house under surveillance."
The MP cannot be identified because Judge Paul Whitehead suppressed the names of the cities in which he directed the youths to live while awaiting trial.
