Gas leak in Auckland CBD

Emergency services have evacuated a central Auckland building as they work to repair a gas leak.

The leak at Albert Plaza on Albert St happened after a digger damaged a gas main around 2:45pm.

A Fire Service spokesman said workers had been ordered out of the plaza building and the surrounding area had been cordoned off as the main was repaired.

"There is a danger but no-one has been hurt at this stage."
