Funeral today for crushed worker

The funeral for the Bay of Plenty man crushed to death at the Carter Holt Harvey Tasman Mill in Kawerau will be held today.

Robert Watene Beazley Coromandel, 38, from Edgecumbe, was sweeping around a wood-pulp rolling machine when the accident happened on Friday.

His funeral is being held at the Ruaihona Marae at Te Teko, 21km south west of Whakatane.

Police said there were no suspicious circumstances in his death. The Department of Labour is investigating the accident.

Management at the mill would not comment.
