Fuel shortage may delay flights

Some flights from Australia may be delayed this morning because of a jet fuel shortage in Sydney.

The major oil companies are investigating after a significant quantity of fuel was found to be unusable.

Suppliers were alerted to the problem when routine tests showed fuel was off specification.

The problem is expected to cut supply to each of the airlines by up to 40 per cent, and the fuel is being rationed among them.
