Dentists Lumino Masterton got behind Lumino Day, a nationwide partnership between the KidsCan Charity and Lumino The Dentists.
On Saturday, adult family members from selected KidsCan partner schools were offered free dental treatment and care.
The inaugural day, potentially worth more than $200,000 of free treatment, ran from 9am and4pm. The day proved popular at Lumino Masterton, who treated 40 patients.
Trish Harrington at Lumino said only one patient did not turn up, and they were able to fit in another three from their waiting list thanks to gaps here and there.
"Because our hygienist worked as well, we flicked patients over to her for quick 15-minute cleans ... it all worked very smoothly."
The staff gave out free toothbrushes to patients and their families, which was a hit, she said. "It was all a lot of fun and has left the whole team feeling so good about being able to help less fortunate."
