Firefighters have worked to control a major fire that ripped through a Queenstown golf course this evening.
Photos supplied to the Herald show plumes of thick grey smoke filling the air as firefighters rush to battle the blaze at the Frankton Golf Centre clubhouse and shop.
A Fireand Emergency New Zealand spokesperson said they received multiple calls about the fire from passers-by at about 6.35pm.
“We responded initially with two fire trucks, one from Frankton, one from Queenstown, followed by a third fire truck from Queenstown as a support vehicle as well,” the spokesperson said.
