Foxton Little Theatre to stage ’Twas the Fight Before Christmas

A Christmas comedy is coming to Foxton Little Theatre.

’Twas the Fight Before Christmas, written by New Zealand playwright Devon Willamson and directed by Lisa Collinson, opens this month.

For Collinson, the show is the first she’s directed.

“It is a play that promises to tickle funny bones and touch hearts. Think your family is complicated? Meet the most dysfunctional family you can imagine as they try to navigate Christmas.”

She said the show is perfect for Christmas.

“The motivation behind putting this on is to give the community something light-hearted and funny around Christmas. This show has a lot of layers, Devon is quite clever in that way.”

The play follows Mary and her adult daughters, who have been running Christmas.

This year Mary is determined to take Christmas back with the help of Jean Pierre. It also features Ivy, a paranoid frying pan-wearing neighbour and Desmond, Mary’s loveable but walking doormat of a son-in-law, she said.

“You’ve now got the perfect recipe for a hilarious Christmas disaster that will leave you wanting more.”
