Four men arrested after Napier police pursuit

Napier police have arrested four men after they were caught allegedly stealing a kayak this afternoon, sparking a police pursuit.

The men, an adult and three youths, were seen placing a kayak on a trailer at Waipatiki beach, about 35km north of Napier, Sergeant Steve Murray told NZPA. The vehicle and trailer was spotted on State Highway 2 by police and a pursuit began, but was called off just before they entered the Napier area.

Mr Murray said police then began to search for the vehicle, which was found on SH2B. Police followed the vehicle into the Hastings area and finally caught up to the men when they turned on Farndon Road, near Clive.
