Four people died as the result of road crashes over the weekend.
A 20-year-old man died after a car he was driving hit a power pole on Port Hills Rd in Christchurch about 1am today.
Two women and a second man were in hospital today with serious but not life-threatening injuries, a Christchurch traffic police spokesman said.
A 63-year-old man died yesterday afternoon after a two-car collision in the city.
Police were treating the crash as a fatal accident, but the cause of the man's death was unclear. The matter had been referred to the Coroner.
Neither man has been named.
On Friday night, a 20-year-old man was killed in a head-on collision near Ohakea Airbase in the Manawatu.
In another two-vehicle collision, near Te Puke at 8am yesterday, a 36-year-old man was killed.
