Four-car crash in central Auckland

A four vehicle crash in Auckland this afternoon has left a man with serious injuries after his car smashed into a pole on Queen St.

At 2.40 pm today the vehicle was coming down Wakefield St in Auckland when it hit a stationary vehicle waiting at the lights, causing the car to hit another vehicle which then hit a bus passing on Queen St.

The original vehicle carried on across Queen St and hit a pole near Aotea Square, police said.

The sole male occupant was trapped in the vehicle and had to be removed and taken to Auckland City Hospital with serious injuries.

Police will be testing his vehicle to establish what caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
