Foreshore talks continue with recreational groups

Ministers met conservation and outdoor recreational groups in Wellington yesterday to discuss the foreshore and seabed proposals.

Deputy Prime Minister Michael Cullen and Associate Maori Affairs Minister John Tamihere are setting out to explain the proposals and discuss them with 12 organisations.

The closed meeting was co-ordinated by Fish and Game.

The recreational groups are anxious to make certain that there will be no possibility of anyone being excluded from the foreshore, which is the Government's intention as it prepares to legislate so that no one can gain private title to beaches.
