Ford dumps V8 models

The V8 powered XR8 sedans and utes will stay while Fairmont, Fairlane and LTD V8s are dropped.

Ford will drop the V8 engine option in all models but the performance-orientated XR range.

The HSV-competitor FPV range will not be effected.

A decision was made by Ford Australia to drop the three-valve 5.4 V8 that's available in the Fairmont Ghia, Fairlane and LTD models.

Ford removed the V8 completely from the Falcon range during most of the 1980s.

The four-valve engine in the XR8 sedan and ute will now be the only V8 available in the mainstream blue oval range of Aussie-built cars.
