Flooding, strong winds on SH1 near Kapiti

It could be a slow grind home for commuters on the Kapiti Coast this evening.

A flooding alert has been issued for State Highway One from Pukerua Bay to Paekakariki as strong winds may cause waves to break over the sea wall and onto the road.

Motorists are being warned to take extra care along the route.

TranzMetro has also cancelled its 3:20pm and 4:20pm trains between Wellington and Waikanae due to operational reasons.
