A downpour in Auckland caused some surface flooding in the city centre, causing surface flooding and road closures after the storm.
Heavy rain has flooded houses in Auckland and Waikato and blocked a road tonight.
Onehunga Harbour Rd was closed at 10pm due to surface flooding, said Fire Service spokesman Jarron Phillips.
A house in Massey was also flooded about the same time.
Earlier in the day there was surface floodingin Waikato, and the Fire Service helped at two houses in Leamington, a business in Cambridge and a basement in Turangi.
Mr Phillips said the flooding was typical of "intense quick downpours" such as those experienced.
