Five injured in Maramarua crash

State Highway 2 is closed at Maramarua in north Waikato after a three-car crash just before 4pm.

Five people have been injured, one seriously.

Diversions are in place.

The highway had only just reopened after an earlier crash involving two cars.

Police say four people were taken to hospital, all seriously injured, while another person had moderate injuries.

Meanwhile, residents of Pauanui are advised the main road in and out of the town will likely be closed shortly.

And in the central North Island there is flooding on State Highway One north of Waiouru.
