A fisherman is recovering in Dunedin Hospital after suffering head injuries in a fall on a squid boat nearly 100km south of Stewart Island yesterday.
The man, 35, was airlifted from the Timaru-based boat San Discovery, located 150km south of Invercargill near Sneers Island, around midday yesterday.
Vessel manager for
San Discovery's operator, Sanford, Simon Gibb said it was believed the man collapsed in the boat's factory.
He had been informed by the hospital the man was up and walking around but was awaiting further assessment.
