THE Masterton Host Waipoua Lions Club is jumping the gun by two days and will hold its annual community Guy Fawke's fireworks display at Henley Lake in Masterton tomorrow night
Organiser Colin Hendry said $9000 worth of fireworks would make it a memorable and spectacular event.
Mr Hendry said the display had
been held now for 10 years and had become an important and popular feature on the Masterton calendar, with all profits returned to the community by the Lions club.
He said a community fireworks display with qualified operators setting off the rockets gave families the pleasure of watching in a controlled environment, eliminating the risks of injury to people or pets.
As well as the fireworks and a bonfire, food will be on sale so people can eat while watching.
Admission is $2, with under-5s free. Car parking is available for $2.
The gates open at 7pm.
If the weather is too wet or windy, the display will be held next Friday.
