Fireball engulfs Invercargill man

An Invercargill man has second degree burns after using petrol to get his barbecue going.

The drum of fuel he was holding exploded, creating a fireball which engulfed him and blew him towards his garage.

When firefighters arrived his partner was dousing him with a garden hose.

Senior Station Officer Graeme Gilroy expects the man is counting his lucky stars.
