Fire rips through Whangarei bedroom

A fire has ripped through a bedroom in a unit in Whangarei this morning.

Fire services were called to the fire about 8.15am, Northern Fire Communications shift manager Nicole Bernard said.

One person was believed to have received burns.

It was not known if anyone was in the bedroom at the time of the fire.

The fire has been extinguished but fire services remained at the scene, Ms Bernard said.
