Fire damages Mt Eden unit

A fire has severely damaged a unit in Auckland's Mt Eden.

Auckland fire communications shift manager Scott Osmond said one person was treated by ambulance staff for smoke inhalation in the fire on Wynyard Rd today.

The fire started around 10:30am and it took seven fire crews around an hour to get the blaze under control, Mr Osmond said.

"As to the cause of it, there's a fire investigator at the scene now."

Crews have now left the scene of the fire.
