Fire crews battle large blaze in Milson, Palmerston North

Fire crews have rushed to a large blaze in the Palmerston North suburb of Milson.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand said crews were called to a fire at a commercial business on John F Kennedy Drive about 6.30pm.

“Upon arrival, we found the building well ablaze and it is currently at a fourth alarm fire,” the shift manager said.

“We have 10 crews on site, currently working to extinguish the blaze. A fire investigator is also on scene.”

In a Facebook post, the Palmerston North Fire Brigade urged residents to stay away.

“If you’re downwind from the smoke please close your windows and turn off air conditioning units.”
