Fire at south Auckland school

A fire broke out late Thursday night at the back of a school in south Auckland.

The fire, at a pergola at the back of Te Matauranga school on Finlayson Ave, Clendon, started just before 10.50pm, Daniel Nicholson, from the Fire Service northern communications centre, said.

Firefighters managed to extinguished the blaze by midnight.

There were no reports of injuries, or of anybody being inside the structure, he said.
