Fiery crash outside Queenstown seriously injures two

Two people were seriously hurt in a fiery car crash near Queenstown this morning.

The vehicle burst into flames after a collision on Malaghans Rd near the Ben Lomond Lavender Farm at Coronet Peak just before 6am.

6:40am: Malaghans Road is closed between Littles Road and Dalefield Road due to a serious crash. It will be closed for at least three hours

Police said emergency services were attending the crash on the Coronet Peak road.

Two people had been injured but were both out of their vehicles.

One of the cars had burst into flames.

The road is closed between Littles and Dalefield Rds and not expected to open until mid-morning at the earliest.

The Queenstown District Council posted on its Facebook page that access to Coronet Peak remained open from the Queenstown side.
